Midwifery

People often ask me about my Philosophy and How I Came to be a Midwife. I was nineteen years old when I first considered midwifery as a path and profession. By this time, I was already an avid outdoorsperson and student of Yoga. My undergraduate degree was in Religious Studies, and my personal focus became discovering spirit in my body and in nature. I have always been more interested in the wisdom and creative brilliance of the natural world than man’s attempt to improve on or dominate it. In fact, once I began to see clearly that these attempts have caused mostly disassociation and disease, I felt called to help change things, and chose midwifery as my service. I believe that women can realize personal and cultural change by affirming the inherent perfection of our bodies, by honoring our intuitive wisdom and the healing ways of traditional cultures, and by acting on what we Know. We can help create a peaceful world by insisting that our babies be received in reverence and that they be allowed their natural transition at birth.
